Waaree Powers 153.6 MW Solar Plant for DRPL in Tamil Nadu

High-yield, cost-optimised solar solution powering hybrid energy goals in South India.

Clients Overview

Dalavaipuram Renewables Pvt. Ltd. (DRPL), a subsidiary of Continuum Green Energy, is dedicated to providing scalable and sustainable renewable power solutions throughout India. As part of a larger hybrid initiative, DRPL developed a 153.6 MW ground-mounted solar project in Puthiyamputhur, Ottapidaram, in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin district. This initiative is a key component of the Dalavaipuram Hybrid Wind-Solar project aimed at boosting regional energy reliability and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. DRPL's vision centres on deploying high-efficiency renewable infrastructure that meets future energy demands while supporting India's decarbonization objectives. Focused on performance, cost optimisation, and environmental impact, the company partners with technology leaders like Waaree RTL to deliver complex solar infrastructure efficiently. The DRPL solar plant now stands as a landmark installation for hybrid, utility-scale solar development in South India.

Challenges Faced

Building a high-capacity solar plant on fixed-tilt structures required an optimised design to minimise shading and land usage. The client also needed advanced monitoring systems to enhance uptime, despite budget constraints. Balancing performance, cost-efficiency, and strict timelines across a large-scale deployment presented significant engineering and execution challenges.

Why They Choose Waaree

Waaree RTL’s proven track record in delivering high-performance, utility-scale solar projects made them the ideal EPC partner. Their ability to integrate advanced bifacial technology, monitoring systems, and land-optimised layouts within cost constraints aligned perfectly with DRPL’s goals for reliability, efficiency, and long-term operational success under a hybrid energy strategy.

Our Approach

Solutions Implemented

Waaree RTL provided complete EPC services for DRPL’s 153.6 MW ground-mounted solar plant in Tamil Nadu. Spread across Puthiyamputhur in Tuticorin district, the project is part of a broader hybrid wind-solar initiative aimed at strengthening regional clean energy capacity.

To maximise energy yield, Waaree deployed 545 Wp bifacial monocrystalline modules mounted on fixed-tilt Module Mounting Structures (MMS) set at a 5° angle. The plant design features a 28-module string configuration with a 7.5-meter pitch, strategically reducing inter-row shading while optimising land utilisation.

A standout feature of the plant is its Adaptive SCADA system. This real-time monitoring platform enables remote diagnostics, centralised control, and live performance tracking, enhancing transparency, system responsiveness, and uptime across the solar plant.

Despite budget-conscious parameters, Waaree maintained high-quality engineering standards and delivered the project on schedule. The plant’s streamlined layout, paired with high-efficiency modules and advanced automation, ensures sustainable output and long-term performance.

By integrating precision engineering and future-ready technologies, Waaree RTL has delivered a robust solar asset that significantly contributes to Tamil Nadu’s renewable energy targets and sets a benchmark for hybrid-ready solar development in India.

Outcome

Waaree RTL’s execution of DRPL’s 153.6 MW solar project is a testament to the scalability and cost-effectiveness of renewable energy deployment. Completed on schedule, the plant integrates high-efficiency bifacial modules with a carefully engineered fixed-tilt layout to ensure optimal land use and performance. The inclusion of Adaptive SCADA enables centralised, real-time monitoring, enhancing uptime and visibility. Even with a strong focus on cost-efficiency, Waaree ensured zero compromise on quality, safety, or engineering standards. The project supports Tamil Nadu’s clean energy agenda and India’s broader decarbonisation targets by contributing a significant amount of renewable capacity to the grid. It also sets a benchmark for hybrid-ready solar infrastructure that combines performance reliability with smart automation. DRPL’s partnership with Waaree demonstrates how innovation-led EPC execution can successfully balance performance, scale, and cost.
